Another year closed

The year 2007 came to an end on Monday night and with it came of course the annual live broadcast of Dick Clark's annual show. As you know, it's been 4 years now since Mr. Clark had a stroke and his voice has changed from this. For earlier in the day, you could hear his regular voice in a marathon of his old game show "Pyramid" reruns which 20 years ago went off the air on CBS, only to return 13 weeks later and be shown 13 more weeks before ending for good on the network.

The past year, by the way was a big year at my Tripod web site with features that deserved a vote this for a favorite from you from 2007. I will check on my numbers soon and get a final total of hits from this past year.

The coming year finds me attending a Class Reunion this year, it will be my 20th. I will be glad to be somewhere for at least one Saturday night.

This is a week of interesting Anniversaries, almost all of them not good news. It was 20 years ago that there was an oil spill on the Monongahela River, which would also land into the Ohio River into Wheeling and Pittsburgh a few years later. It took over a week because the weather that week had freezing digit temperatures. It was 5 years ago this week that Doctors in the Northern Panhandle walked off the job due to a Medical Malpractice Crisis. It hit my home when my Dad had been ill for a couple days and the type of illness that he had required him to go to Morgantown for a week. After he was released, did he change? Health wise, somewhat he did slowly, mind wise? not at all. Actually, he by the way had to go Morgantown several times until mid-February when he had his surgery for certain things. This all came at a time, the news daily was depressive around the world and weatherwise that winter.

Father Chuck McGinnis is recovering at home in Wheeling. I am still waiting information on another friends condition which hopefully more will be learned about in the coming week. The pictures of me in the Santa outfit will still be up on my 360.yahoo page until I check several of my 1.44 diskettes.
