Nice to see you back here again!

The West Virginia Legislature will start it's second 60 day session of the 78th Session on Wednesday. They will meet Wednesday morning, but on Wednesday night, Governor Manchin will present his last address before the voters decide whether to keep him running the state for another 4 years. A few notes to tell you real quickly. There will be 2 new faces since March 10th when the Legislature ended the first session as Dave Higgins of Kanawha County will take over for Jon Amores and Louis Gall will take over for Ron Thompson in Raliegh County. Past State of the State Addresses that I have seen have sometimes been interesting. Cecil Underwood's return in 1997 found him started by saying Abe Lincoln's starting words in the Gettysburg Address, "Four Score and Seven Years Ago". A few years later, Bob Wise would use an AOL gimmick for work to be done by saying "You've Got Mail and We've got work to do". But in 1995, Gaston Caperton held up a pistol (He didn't shoot it by the way) and said "This is Intolerable, Intolerable in West Virginia" as he asked legislators to do something about school shootings. I remember after that, Richard Grimes, a retired Charleston Daily-Mail Political Editor on the old West Virginia Public TV show "Under Fire" jokingly say for the new license plates that the background have Caperton's moment.
Phyllis Beneke, rest her soul 25 years ago during Christmas break according to my sister's Wheeling Park yearbook got to see Tammy Wynette. (I kind of question it though) Colleen Megna, on the other hand found herself in a situation while at the new Olive Garden at the Highlands. Megna, who was at the restaurant with an ex-co-worker said while there she had ordered a drink at the establishment and Megna mentioned that the drink didn't come until 40 minutes after she had placed the order. As I may have mentioned in previous blogs, almost all Highlands businesses, especially restaurants are very much short handed in staff because the Ohio Valley Regional Transportation Authority have slowed in trying to get buses for the Dallas Pike retail stop which has since started running the buses there.
My congratulations to Debbie Trippett on receiving the Certified Administrative Professional rating by the International Association of Administrative Professionals for her work as a CPA in Parkersburg. Meanwhile, I sent Jill Thorngate an e-mail Tuesday afternoon, only minutes later bump into her and tell her what the e-mail was about and also I had to move my stereo from the top of my bed to another part of the bedroom because I bumped into something and somehow had a tiny bruise around my left eyebrow area. I am fine and there will be more breathing room to move around while sleeping.
