My homage to Laurie Nuzum

After almost 28 years of off and on service in banking, Laurie Shaffer Nuzum ended her job at WesBanco on Friday, April 4th. The day Becky Crow and bookkeeping staff moved to the Central Union Building where Laurie was stationed over the last 6 years in wires department after the merger of Wheeling National Bank. I worked with Laurie starting in February 2001 and were in the same department until the WNB merger. A couple things to tell you about her. On March 16, 2002 as we had to stuff envelopes on a Saturday, during a small break, Laurie read us a story from a Charlie Brown book entitled "Everybody Gets Gold Stars But Me". Laurie pretended to be Peppermint Patty who was guilty somehow of stealing glued stars given to kids in Elementary school, Laurie pretended that the teacher whose only heard from with the voice goes "Rah Rah Rah" was given to Crow. I ended up being Franklin. Debbie Evans in Laurie's story played Marcie. Jim Clemens was Snoopy and Chris Dominquez was Charlie Brown in Laurie's version. There was actually Peppermit Patty as the Janitor, Laurie gave that role to Rose Thomas, who is not in banking. Another highlight was that Laurie, Becky, Debbie and me were sitting with each other at the 2004 Holiday Luncheon. It may also interest you to know that the location of where the picture was taken of me in the Santa Claus outfit on November 5, 2005 was done at Laurie's home. Laurie was the only one that was qualified for taking the picture since it was a surprise Christmas present to my parents and that she did very well taking 48 pictures that day being that she is camera shy. She had suggested taking pics outside, but I felt that it was not a good idea considering that kids would say something to their parents about it and also that Santa wasn't arriving at the malls yet. Laurie married last September and is taking time off.
