Weather the story this weekend, Remembering Mr. Gordon

The story this weekend up here will be let's say all types of precipitation, rain, sleet, snow and freezing rain which is expected to begin Saturday afternoon with possibility of flooding that is currently happening. The Ohio River around here could get above 1 foot above flood stage. The rain hopefully will help the little town of Cameron (WV) in Marshall County, whose water levels have been down for a while. This by the way is the third straight weekend that where I live the National Weather Service has issued an winter advisory of some kind.

Retired Wheeling Park Mathematics Teacher Mr. Charles Gordon passed away earlier this week. Even though I didn't have him for classes at WPHS and didn't know him that well, I did want to highlight the fact that Mr. Gordon was in charge of the Power of Youth Club and was an outspoken voice for the NAACP here in Wheeling. I remember an interview Staci Charlton and Robert Frye, 1989 WPHS Grads did for the 1988 yearbook where they interviewed him on what he did outside the High School, he said he did 750 or so fingertip push-ups besides reading books such as James Baldwin. Mr. Gordon I mentioned in a blog last year I think was in charge of an elevator at a Market Street Building. Funeral will be Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church, there also will be a Military Graveside service in the burial.
